| | Too hot!!!! | | No point in even taking a shower. As soon as you turn the water off you start sweating again. Blech. I can't even let the ducks out in the morning without having to change shirts when I am done. Thank God the heat is supposed to break Friday. And rain is in the forecast too. Except for 2 days of light drizzle we haven't had a good rain since early July. The grass has stopped growing (yeah for not having to mow, boo for not having grass for the ducks to eat) and I've had to water the garden. The places I've been dumping the duck muck need some rain so I can mix the muck into the soil.
Waaah! Sorry for boohooing. I'm just tired of being hot. Give me 6 months and I'll be whining about being too cold. At least when I am cold my just washed hair doesn't stink like b o. |

| | We're still getting hot summer days here in New York too Rhonda. Today is supposed to reach 90º again. At least when I'm at work, the office is air-conditioned. I think rain is on the way this weekend.

| | The past week or so has been miserable as far as heat goes. We were supposed to get some good rain last night, but didn't get anything. I'm not sure how long this dry spell is going to last, but I hope there is an end in sight. The farmers are all complaining that the corn is drying out which is not a good thing. If someone were to drop a hot match on our lawn, we'd have a wild fire starting. No more bonfires for us until after the grass greens up a bit. Too chancy for a fire to get started and burn out of control around here.

| | My lawn has been fried most of the summer. We really need some rain too. Hey do those heat advisory days mean that I can't go to work??? LOL We've had several of those lately.
My electric bill was outrageous from the AC. The nice thing is that my gas bill is low in the winter cause I love a cool house.
I'm gonna start doing a rain dance.

| | I feel for you dry ones, the drought was unbearable for me last year. I hope you get some rain soon. Thankfully, we're getting more rain this year & lately, hurricane rains.
Tommy & I worked outside on Saturday. The temp wasn't too extreme, not quite 90, but the sun was out & it was so humid. The sun heated all the left over water from Fay so it felt like a sauna. Rhonda, we were wringing wet with sweat! Maybe we lost a few pounds.

| | We were hot over the weekend, but a cool front came through!!! Yesterday and today and for the week ahead, the highs are in the 60s! Come on fall! My neighbors got together and went to a sporting event Sunday -- it was around 90 where they were -- sitting in the sun for 4 or 5 hours. One of the guys got a major sunburn, the other got a headache. Hot weather isn't for us northerners -- we feel like we are steaming or going to melt.
Karan, I agree, I love a cool house. I can't sleep when it gets hot, and I get cranky from heat and humidity. |

| | Hoping for rain and heat breaks for you Rhonda and everybody else who is sweating up a storm.
Gustav remnants are supposed to be dumping some rains in the midwest, north midwest, if I saw the weather right.
As for me, I am totally satisfied with our weather the past week and its peaking today at 88, supposedly. But its been cooling down into the sixties each evening.... Humidity is low, air is breezy, and its just perfect, sunny, bright, hot enough to enjoy a glass of ice tea or dip in the pool, but not so hot you feel dragged out and dopey.
I have almost got all my tree cut down and cut up and cleaned up, with this weather, have got the deck washed, dried, nearly all stained, have kept up on the lawn mowing, and so am a happy camper. Its that Not Quite Summer, but Not quite Fall weather, and its glorious.
We are supposed to get some clouds tomorrow (none in sight today, clear blue...fantastic) and then some rainstorms on Sunday.
We had a wet summer, and cool, damp with a few stretches of sun, which is normal for here. But its more like summer now than it was in July.
So, while I feel for you guys who are too hot, too dry, too windy, or too rainy....I am NOT offering to send any of this wonderful weather we're having your way.
GAAG, watch out for Hanna and Ike! I haven't watched the weather on those since yesterday, but it looked like Hanna was going to create enormous surge on the coast and dump a lot of rain inland.
And Ike looks like a monster.!

| | Pburgh, not even enough to wet the ground. And even though temps did drop a bit it is still so very hot here. So hot and dry that my recently sprouted green beans just dried up and died. I've had enough! I'm headed back to Alaska! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
