| | Think SPRING!!! | | I can't be the only one who is so tired of winter, the cold, and lack of sunshine. Seed catalogs arrive almost daily, and it just compounds the anticipation of the arrival of warmer days ahead. This has been the strangest winter, with so many day below freezing, and snowfall in places that rarely get it.
I see I've missed so much here. Prayers going out to all who need them, and Birthday wishes, though late, are still sincere.
Seems every time I come in, I'm apologizing for my extended absence. I've been searching properties online, thinking of throwing in the towel & heading south. I have a few friends & relatives in Florida, most on the gulf coast, so that's the area I've been researching. I haven't contacted a realtor to list our house here in NY yet, but as soon as the weather breaks, I'll start making plans & clearing out unnecessary items. Who knows, it may never happen, but that's what's been keeping me busy.

| | Guess what!?!? I saw a ROBIN this morning!! Took my son up to the airport early today and sitting shivering in some shrubs by the road was this fella! I realize he may have been one of those who stay around....but it was still good for my soul!
Pat...you're good for me! My plan is to move out to the west coast (hopefully) this fall! I am such a collector of interestin' items...little-by-little I'm starting to get goodies sorted. Look out eBay!......Pam

Best wishes Pat & Pam for smooth moves. May all your dreams come true!

| | A Robin!! | | Actually Pam, that was one of the things I forgot to mention. I have seen one in my yard for the past week, before that it must have been over a month ago, and wondered if it was one that over-wintered here. I don't even know if there is more than one that I've been spotting, but nevertheless, it's a surprise! I always have my bird feeders and suet holders filled, but I don't think Robins are interested in either.

I have been watching this fat robin eating underneath my bird feeders during the colder weather. Actually, I've seen blue birds doing this also as well as scads of other birds. I guess if the resident birds get too cold & nature isn't providing, they aren't picky eaters. The thing about this robin is it is so very plump! Looks like that big red breast could pop! Maybe this robin is eating too much suet & seed.

| | You're probably right Lauren | | I looked out this morning & there was a Robin hanging around, on & under the picnic table, probably looking for a bite to eat. I have 3 hanging feeders under our covered arbor, but so far I haven't seen any Robins venture that close to our windows.
I see they appreciate the heated birdbath though. Poor thing, sitting there in the snow.....

| | I just changed desktop pictures from a robin (on our driveway last summer) to a pollen-laden honey bee in hopes of getting into the Spring swing! But it takes so long for the weather to warm up here and last summer was dismal with all of the rain. Yet this winter, hardly any snow at all, just single digit temps. Until we got the "lake effects" snow last weekend, we had little in the mountains and NONE down along Rt. 28. I imagine it's pretty scary for the skiers as they come east on 28 from 84 to Belleayre and see all the brown fields and yards. So far at 1:42 pm, we've got approx. 5 inches and little wind. We need a nice dump for the water table in the event we get some SUN this summer! :-0
