Default Holy Cow is it COLD!!!

Can you bellieve how this year is starting???!!! We had a wind chill warning last night and this morning for wind chills of -40. That is nasty. We got down to -21, International Falls got to -37, without wind chill being figured into it. Tonight is supposed to get around -teens again tonight and again on Thurs. another -20 is predicted.
How is everyone else doing? Stay warm!

It's colder than normal here too. Temps have been dipping into the mid-teens at night, at least 10 degrees below normal. Our Yuletide camellia flowers froze right on the shrub. However, our other camellias that bloomed in Nov. were lush & gorgeous. The birdies have been busy visiting my feeders trying to fuel up & stay warm. Cozy up Thumbies -- especially you Dog Mom!

Yesterday the official low was -26 here. But we got above zero in the afternoon at least. And we are hoping the weekend report is going to be right. They are promising us 20 (above) for Sunday!! At least it might get back to normal.
Did you notice the the weather is showing a jet stream pattern more like what we see in the summer? Usually in the winter we geet a more zonal flow west to east. Currently, it is coming down in a u shape from the arctic.
I am getting more cuddles than usual from my Aussie dog -- he cuddles for awhile then get warm and pants and heads for the floor to cool off.

We here in Lakeland are at 33 right now, I am afraid it will be below freezing when I go out on my crossing duty in the morning.

We're in the single digits right now and what a great time for our heater in the main room to come down with a cold and not want to heat the main room. The entire week is supposed to be in the single digits for us, thankfully, no ice storm and no power outages either have happened, just a very sick heater.

We're borrowing an electric heater from my cousin for the week to keep the main room warm for us when we're watching tv. Mom is all bundled up in my pink bathrobe, which is keeping her warm during the day. I think she loves it very much as her other bathrobe she tried this morning didn't do much good as she came for my pink robe to wear.

Mother Nature is acting extremely funny this winter, I hope she'll get back to normal soon.

Beth

Pretty in Pink.................Janet
Stay warm you guys. We've had more snow in the past week than we had all winter last year. It's cold too with the wind chill at zero. Little Ernie is having a tough time going potty. He has a yellow with brown dot semi circle packed down right outside my back porch. He can't walk in the deep stuff. It comes up to his belly.

I made some homemade vegetable soup for the kids next door and for the guys here at work to keep them comfy. My personal remedy is plenty of cocoa and toast. Of course if you put some Bailey's in the cocoa it makes shoveling the snow so much more fun. LOL

...and I am in the 'I can't believe this' stage as I check the thermometer (-2*) and then look out the window (solid ice underfoot and wind whippng around the corner). But I'm cozy in my warm apartment and enjoy knowing I can stay in and watch others gingerly hobble around looking like dark plush cabbages in knit masks. Life in Duluth, MN sure is different from life in Titusville, FL. (especially in the wintertime).
