Here it is 78 degrees at 6:06 pm , just think a few days ago it was over 50 degrees lower . I am glad that it has warmed up to normal temperatures but I did lose the plumeria tree I had . There is no saving it. Every bit of the stem is mushy to the touch.
But I am making good progress on the scarf, I only have 9 more inches of the pattern to do and then I can finish it off with 8 rows of the seed stitch border. Seed stitch is like ribbing, but you knit the purls and purl the knits

We are back to winter here. But it is a strange winter, we have had rain down nearer the lake and snow up higher on the "hillside". I have had the rain and a little slush, Joan has had the snow. Now they are telling us 7 - 11 inches of snow by tomorrow when the winter storm warning ends at 4 pm. Then, the cold is supposed to return, making the snow into what we call snowcrete up here. Basically, frozen into a substance that will stay around until April and that defies snow shovels and blowers unless you can get it when the sun has been on it on a "warm" afternoon of around 30+ degrees. It isn't the nice fluffy stuff that we usually get when it is colder. Oh well, Ground Hog Day isn't too far off -- then only six more weeks of winter.

Well we are getting more cold temps again but like it was when I came home from Va. I finished the scarf yesterday, got it washed, dried and block to size. I gave it to him this morning. He was very thankful. I may make it again but not too soon. I made several mistakes in the cables, forgot to cross it in one area, and had to unravel several stitches to correct a wrong stitch three or four times. I would like to knit it with a thinner yarn so it would be lighter. The one I made was a little heavy when it got longer than 12 inches in length.

Yep Skywatch, we had sunny & warm weather here today. I could use a little more of that this winter. It's hard to believe that by this time tomorrow night we'll be having another ice storm! We had a good one about a month ago that brought down our old gazebo. This time, no real *snow* accumulation is expected, just 24+ hours of *wintery mix*.

Sleeting currently here in North Raleigh. Snowfall rates vary across Raleigh from 3 inches to 5 inches! 4 inches at my place!

Thankfully, the *wintery mix* stayed just south of us, so we received all snow. Woke up to about 6 inches yesterday morning. The temp's below the freezing mark again today, so the melting won't begin until tomorrow.

I'm glad I filled the bird feeders to capacity the day before the storm. A wide variety of birdies have been on a feeding frenzy in order to stay warm. They're happy & watching them makes me happy too!

Right now it is 47 with a feels like temp of 43 . I will be getting rained on in the am due to the front that is coming back up from the south as a warm front and the cold front coming in will meet and rain is the result . All set to dump rain on me when I go out for crossing duty.

What season is it when it's colder than winter? I really need to know because that is what we are having. I have to wear gloves to drive to and from work, the van just doesn't get warm.
