Garden Game #42 | | Garden Game- how to play
Garden Game is a guessing game created by kristie from California in summer 2001 at the weather channel Green Thumb Club forum and has been in continuous play ever since on whatever forum the "Green Thumb Club" set up residence. Players try to guess the names of plants from clues given by the clue giver. In each round there is one "clue giver" and as many guessers as want to try to guess. Winner of each round becomes the "clue giver" for the next round.
Clue Giver
The clue giver choses a plant. Any kind of plant is allowed so it may be anything from a weed to a tree, an algae, moss or fungus, flowering or not.
The clue giver gives one clue at a time by posting it in the thread and waits for guessers to guess. If no one guesses correctly, another clue is given. It is best to copy and paste the list of clues you already gave in the round, before adding the next clue to make sure all the clues for the current plant are in your latest post on the thread. This way, everybody will see all the clues that have been given so far for the plant you chose for that round.
The game continues with the clue giver posting additional clues about the plant and the guessers posting additional guesses until someone wins by guessing the correct plant.
When you are clue giver, you should check the thread regularly to see if there are new guesses or anyone won and to decide if its time to add another clue.
If someone guesses correctly, the clue giver copies and pasts the list of "winners" from the most recent list, posts who won the round, and adds a point to the winners score. The winner then becomes the clue giver and will start a new set of clues for a new plant of their choice.
The winner is named by the clue giver and the acceptability of the "winning" answer is in the sole discretion of the clue giver, however if the clue giver is seeking a scientific or specific common name as "correct" the clue giver should note that in their posting of the clues.
The only other rule is that if two people posted equally "correct" answers to your clues, the winner will be the first one to have posted an acceptable answer according to the time of the post.
There is no minimum time limit between clues, and you may add clues whenever you think it is appropriate, such as when there have been few guesses, or you'd like to make the round go quicker or the guessing easier. There is no maximum time between new clues, either, however if no one guesses correctly after a day or so, its best to add another clue.
Clues may be anything that will help guessers guess the plant you have chosen, can have to do with appearance of the plant, riddles as to the name, uses of the plant, origins, color, shape, literary references to the plant...just about anything that will help the guessors move toward the correct answer.
Guessers
Anyone can join the game by making guesses at the current set of clues to see if they can guess the plant the clue giver has in mind.
Anyone wanting to make a guess at the plant posts their guesses one at a time. Only one guess can be made by each player UNTIL the clue giver posts another clue, indicating that nobody won yet and your previous guess was incorrect. Then you may make another guess. Pay close attention to the clues and remember....even though the plant you guessed may match all the clues given so far, the point of the game is to guess the specific plant the clue giver has in mind. So if the clue giver says your wrong...your wrong. No arguments. There is no crying in Garden Game!!
Guessers may research and use any resources to look up and find plants that may fit the clues.
Once you make a guess on Garden Game, you should check the thread to see if you may have won, in which case it is your responsibility to become "clue giver" for the next round....that's what you "won"...the position of "clue giver". LOL.
If no one guesses the plant correctly or a time goes by with no guesses, the clue giver posts another clue, and anyone who already gave a guess can then go ahead to make another guess and any new guessers can also make a guess. However no one can guess more than once before a clue is added.
Only the clue giver can determine the right answer, as the clue giver is the one who chose the plant. . The clues can be anything that will help lead the players to the plant.
The winner becomes the next "clue giver". If the winner of the latest round disappears and does not return to give clues on a new plant after reminders that it is their turn to give clues, someone else will volunteer or be chosen to go ahead in their place.
This thread is a continuation of Garden Game from thread 41, and so debra69 is the next "clue giver" up to bat! Go, deb!!
