1. Perennial plant that flowers mid to late summer
2. About three feet tall
3. member of the iris family...but the common name would suggest a different family
4. Native to central Asia, India, China and Japan, it now has a range in the US over the eastern half of the U.S.
5. flower color ranges from yellow to orange, with darker (often crimson) speckles

You got it Rebecka!! I got my sulphureus cosmos from Muskie and I just love their bright orange color. I don't normally do well growing from seed but I had such luck with Muskies seeds that it helped me branch out. The seeds are easy for Joey to help harvest and they are so plentiful that I don't mind when he drops 10 ~ or even 50!

Debra, I never saw the orange variety -- it must be pretty. I always have had the purple, pink, and white ones. And the seeds are easy to harvest -- kind of fun! Rebecka

Next plant:

Has been cultivated since the 17th century, so there are many cultivares.
