Default Damn All State

They just notified us that they will not be renewing our home owners insurance. We on Long Island are in a high area for hurricane damage ~ even though we haven't had one here since Gloria blew ashore as a cat one in 1984 I believe. I know they started doing this crap after Katrina but figured since we hadn't heard from them that it is because we live in a high above sea level area.

Now we need to find another home owners insurance before November. It's a real PIA since our oil tank is still below ground (several companies won't cover us because of that) and our insurance payment is tied into our monthly mortgage and tax payments.

Crap. One more thing added onto our already very long, in debt to do list.

That bites! I wish you luck in finding new insurance. Don't go with Metropolitan unless you can find no other alternative. They don't service their claims but go through independent adjusters who lie about your situation and the insurance company won't let you dispute what they say.

Liberty Mutual is cancelling the policy on David's house. We have to have all the repair work done before they consider it to be insurable.

I have State Farm for home and auto. I don't know what they're like cause, thank goodness, I haven't had any claims. They take my money very well though.

Good luck Deb. One thing at a time and you'll get everything handled. Maybe you could check with some of your neighbors to see who they have.
