Default Can I interchange ingredients

I found six different ketchup recipes for canning home made ketchup. I am attaching a comparison chart. Some call for garlic, and not crushed cinnamon and so forth. Can I play around and add all the spices to one recipe? Oh my, decisions, decisions....

sure, why not?

I once had a bunch of cucumbers and wanted to make dill pickles. I found several recipes, and ended up using them all...and doubled up the garlic and hot pepper and mustard. Canned several jars and when I tried them out, .......wow!!! I made labels for them and gave them to relatives who lived in Texas and were always complaining that there wasn't enuff spice in anything. I called them Vampire Killer Dills. LOL.

Oh Darlene, I sooooo needed to hear that. I am going to go the same path--everything goes and then some! We were going to do the canning this morning, but have decided to take a load of scrap over to salvage instead. Have potatoes, pumpkins and squash to pull, and maybe try one of our come up watermelons. I dug up my favorite peony bush yesterday. Wow, hope I didn't hurt it. I found the eyes at the base of the plant and hacked and hacked, trying to divide. Finally got one cut and then gave up. I planted the new cut and today my DH is going to try and get one more cut for me using his chain saw. Oh boy!

Dee & Lucy, you're both further north than I am, so I 'm sure you're feeling the chill in the morning too. Going down in the 40's tonight they say. That's really the end of my vegetable garden I guess. I enjoyed getting fresh tomatoes while it lasted, still have a few peppers out there that I'd better save. I hope your Peonies take the transplant well Lucy. I moved some years ago, & they didn't seem to notice!
