...Unseasonably cold weather with very low snow levels likely coming this weekend to SW WA and NW OR...
A very cold upper low is forecast to drop S into the Pacific NW Friday night and continue over the region through the weekend... bringing a cold air mass to the region much more like that found in mid winter than in mid April.
As the low digs S into SW WA and NW OR Friday night and Saturday... snow levels will likely plummet to values similar to those during the recent Spring break in OR... or to many of the low elevation snow events back in January and early February. The snow level will likely lower to 1000 ft or possibly even 500 ft... and a rain or snow mix is possible to near the valley floors.
This cold air will also likely result in some near record morning low temperatures this weekend. The coldest mornings will likely be Sunday and Monday mornings. Morning low temperatures could fall to between 25 and 30 at several locations. Be sure to be ready to protect any vunerable spring plants this weekend.

...Unseasonably cold weather with very low snow levels and near record low temperatures in store for SW WA and NW OR this weekend...
All of NW OR and SW WA will be affected by an unusually Cold Spring weather system this weekend. This system will bring significant snow to the mountains and foothills... accumulating snow to elevations as low as 1000 ft... and near record cold overnight lows to the valley floor.
The timing of the cold weather is late Friday through Monday. The sharpest drops in temperatures will occur Friday night into Saturday. Snow levels will approach values more in keeping with mid winter then early spring. The snow levels will certainly descent to the lower foothills... and its possible that non accumulating snow could fall at elevations of 500 ft or less.
The coldest morning lows will be on Saturday and Monday. These temperatures are going to challenge records at a few locations and will be cold enough to harm tender vegetation.
This weekend... do protect any vunerable Spring plants... and prepare for mid winter like conditions if traveling through the mountains and foothills.
