Well where do I start we have had 3 massive days of storms here. It's been the best start to a season in the longest time I can remember..

7th October 2007
The 7th was a night where I was not expecting too much development. But at around 6:00pm I could see there were a couple of lightning active cells heading our way. A bit before 7:00pm myself, mum and dad headed down to Pelican Park where fellow chasers David Findlay and Julian R were also taking photos at the other end of the park. Corey came down and we were taking photos of a cell over the Brisbane area and one to our WNW. I was there for around 45 minutes and managed some spectacular photos. All in all a great sunday evening. I got 0.6mm of rain.

Today had potential to produce some great storms and it delivered. Many supercells formed over NE NSW and SE QLD with some large hail dropped out of some cells. The storms started forming near us at around 2:30pm with a couple of small cells going just south of us. However, there was a large line that had formed behind it with many strong embedded cells. We (Me, Mum, Corey, Little bro) headed down to the carpark of the Yacht Club at Woody Point at 5:45pm. When we arrived there was a small cell that had formed in front of the main line which was south of us and we started getting some pictures. Then the main line became extremely active as it moved towards us and I got some great pictures, we left at about 6:20pm as the CG's were getting dangerously close and we were under a metal shelter shed. As soon as we left there was a CG about 400m away from where we had just been. We headed up Oxley Ave with flangs coming down just to our west, we headed for Kippa Ring shops double storey car park. We had an awesome view, I wasn't game enough to get my camera out in the rain (wind driven, we were under shade shelter stuff) and there were numerous CG's and the power went out twice. We headed home soon after and while we were sitting at the lights to come out of the shops a CG hit about 400m or something away and I captured it on film. We dropped Corey off and went home. I set up on my front verandah and captured a few CG's and CC's. Then at around 7:15pm mum took me down to Settlement Cove carpark where I got some pics of lightning over Moreton Island and saw an active cell to my south (South Brisbane) but it was too far away to get any pics. All in all a great chase afternoon. 4mm of rain received.

I got out of school today and could see an anvil to my west (2:15pm). I got home and saw that there was a cell coming our way, I went down to Corey's house and the storm just went north of Redcliffe. We had 2-4mins of light rain and could hear rumbles and saw a couple of CG's. After it had moved away enough Corey got onto the roof and took a few pics for me (first 7 in the link below). I went home and took a pic of the rear end of the storm and checked the radar, I saw some severe cells had formed and were coming towards us. We headed down to Woody Point at around 5:10pm. We got there and could see an awesome guster about 5km to our west heading north in the 15mins it took us to pick Corey and my brother up it had changed direction. We had some overhead CC's and some heavy rain (sounded like hail on shelter shed roof), when it died down a little we headed home to check the radar and saw it was just to our west. We had around 15mins more of heavy rain before it died down and headed away. I got reports that places within 500m of me had hail, but it was severe at Deception Bay. Mum took me down to Scarborough to watch the cells move over Bribie Island and out to sea. Another spectacular day! I received 11mm of rain and David Findlay who lives 3km to my NW got nearly 37mm..
