there is a possibility of a chase for me on Sat. down in NE/IA/ southern MN. models dont look real impressive right now across that area, mediocre shear, temps in the lower to mid 70's, dew points in the upper 50's/lower 60's, MLCAPE <~ 1600 joules. a couple bright spots are that RH values will be high which will hopefully hold LCL's down, and a vort max moving through central MN during the period.

sounds like you should have a fun day! not completely sure we are going with gas prices the way they are, but i just got confirmation from my partner that he will be up for it if it looks good. if we're out we'll be in a newer dark blue Dodge Caravan with some antennas, anemometer, etc mounted in top and a couple SKYWARN stickers on the bumper.

Crap, well, I might be out chasing locally for this one if we don't wind up going up north to a cabin for Saturday.

Will be interesting to see the SPC 4-8 tomorrow morning...

Have fun chasing guys. SPC seems impressed and it will be in your neck of the woods, so enjoy. What time will you be leaving at, Josh?

Not sure, I dont usually make that call till early morning of that day.* Either way, I first have to take my son to the parade here and then head out afterwards.

Im starting to really doubt Im chasing on Sat., probably make the decision this afternoon or tonight but I really need to hope for the time of the CF to be a little bit better.* I dont really want to head to SE IA or extreme E IA just for this.* If the NAM is right Im fine, if the GFS is right I probably am not chasing.

Ok, parameters and timing problems have started to be somewhat alleviated as I figure the GFS is pretty much thrown out at this point.* So the chase is back on for tomorrow.* I'll try to get more into detail tonight or early in the morning but with supercell possibilities the greatest in E IA we are targeting and area inbetween and just E of the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo areas.* Road options will be fine all along this area of E Iowa. Of course we will be out in the IowaStorms.com van as always and tomorrow's chase partners will include Kenny Grimm and Craig Maire.
