Default Well tommorrow would be a good first chase, but.....

What do I need? There is currently a moderate risk to the south of me, in alabama. I don't really want to be driving into golf ball sized hail, or a twister (and ruin my moms car) on my first chase, but more to get some good pictures of the storm from a distance.... I'm currently waiting to see if the SPC will move the moderate risk farther, north and currently I am not sure if this will be a squall or supercell event. (maybe one of you guys could tell me), but I would like to try and go chase my first storm. I have a camera, maps, (no laptop :( ) , etc.

Let me know if tomorrow would be a good day to chase, and how could I do it safely?

Tomorrow does look like a pretty good potential tornado maker.* However Dustin, I would wait for more model data and discussions later today to pinpoint your area for the chase.* By all means be careful as there will probably be some very large hail with this too.

I wouldn't mind going on my first chase tomorrow as well...but would hate to risk getting my 2000 Toyota Corolla car messed up...and then, too, getting around Raleigh and Wake Co in general is a real rat race anyway. So it's highly doubtful...ah well.

Dustin, if you go, keep one thing in mind: these storms are going to be screaming along, at something like 50 mph.* Keep your head on a swivel and make sure you know where your escape routes are at all times.

That being said, the setup looks good **if** enough sun peeks through.* If not, the threat could be overdone...

Well with this being one of those substantial widespread events Im not sure where you are planning on going but the risk will be there for about everything.* I have yet to look over anything yet for this but I can try to tell tonight when i get the chance.* Even if multicellular or linear you could try to get a "shelf" pic and get out of there quick but as Dave indicated storm motions are quite quick as usual at this time of the year.* This may not be the best chase for your "first one" unless you really mean more of a local "spotting" or chase.* I will let you know what I think for a target area tonight.

Yeah, I just realized if you meant to chase locally you might as well stay home as this will be primarily an evening event.* Sorry, no luck for you GA.

Well, I was considering heading down towards alabama, where there will be more convection. Why do you say sorry no luck for you Ga, josh?

He is in a decent area but if things arent really happening until evening more than likely it could be dark, therefore he probably wont be chasing.
