I mean they "alley". I think tornado alley is a waste of thought....because it seems tornadoes are becoming more frequent in places outside the alley but then again, they can happen anywhere at anytime![/b]
I don't buy into the tornadoes are becoming more frequent arguement (that a lot of climatologists will say too). I think that the public/spotters/EM groups have been better at reporting these instances. We still have cases of wind damage and tornadoes that go unreported so we never find about them until far later. That said, the statistics that point to the location of tornado alley are long-term and not over the past few years. It will all even out...

Basically that area is the area that climateologly (sp) has the greatest amount of tornadoes, due to the dynamics of the great plains but obviously they can strike else where.

Dustin, your post makes no sense to me at all. Care to revise it?

The overall number of tornadoes may have went up over the past 50 years or however long you want to go back, but people are living in many more places and there are an exponential increase in numbers of chasers/spotters to see these storms when they happen. It's hard to say if tornadoes have really increased...

In Iowa, since 2000 we have only had 2 years that are above average in terms of numbers of tornadoes. But, those two years ('01 & '04) were more than twice above the average!

Jayson, maybe perhaps he meant due to the topography of the Great Plains in part, bro.

I understand what he meant to say now, I believe anyway... It initially just didn't quite click with the way it was stated...
