everyone in and around town where i live says that it is illegal to have flashing lights on your vehicle, but from the looks of it, it seems that yall use lights all the time and don't get in trouble, does it have to be a certain type of light or wat? your help is greatly appreciated. thanks

it really depends on where you live/chase. the laws arent the same everywhere so you would have to look around or ask for your local rules.

Call your local city hall and explain why you would use them. They should tell you all the terms and what color you can have.

Let's start off with information on what kind of lights you have on your vehicle? I assume it is some type of strobe, how many and more importantly what color or colors do you have?

Thumbs up

Usually if the light is not orange and you are not a member of the fire department etc. it is illegal to use flashing lights. In fact in some states it's a felony. The real question I propose here is why use flashing lights at all if you are only a chaser/spotter? You don't have any special rights just because you are a chaser/spotter (can't move other driver's out of your way etc.) I think most chasers/spotters use flashing lights to try and look "professional/cool." Hazard lights should be enough to let people know you are pulled over on the shoulder etc.

Did you ever check into it with your city hall?

The point of the lights are to let people know you are there on the side of the road. Its more of a safety thing.

I usually depend on my hazards, those are good enough. I dont want a whole bunch of flashing lights to blind traffic and cause an accident.

I agree with you on this. Hazards could be enough to let people know that you are in that side of the road. Also, your horn can be of a help to let people know that you are there.

Another bad deal about emergency lighting is that people will assume you're emergency personnel, stop to ask you questions which will be getting in your way and putting them into a dangerous situation.
