I agree with it should be against the law not to own a NOAA weather radio or at least ALL insurrance companies be required to require ownership of at least 1 working installed NOAA radio in every household. Could you imagine the lives that would be saved?

It's one thing to own a Noaa Weather Radio but to actually use it is another story. I've known a few people who aren't chasers/spotters who own Noaa Weather Radios
but ignore most of the warnings or complain when the tone goes off. If people are going to pay attention to the weather they will and if they won't then they won't, in my opinion a law won't change complacent behavior.

but like smoke detectors, all homes should have them I think!

while I believe in the ability of NWR to save lives, how can you "require" them to be owned by law? You don't even have to have wear a seat belt in the back seat while in Texas, you don't have to own smoke and/or CO alarms and you can clog your arteries with all the junk food you want. The technology isn't "great" but its getting better and will only help, but you can't force it on people.
