Default Last non tornado watch PDS watch

just for fun, and since i dont remember, who knows the last time a PDS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM watch was issued. they are even more RARE than a PDS TOR box, since usually a non tornadic situation doesnt require PDS status, but i know there have been a few before, and i dont remember the last one. i dont think we had one last year, i know i was watching for one since they are so rare.

Yea, that's the one I was thinking of. Hard to believe a thunderstorm could give 90mph winds. :o

Actually, thats not that hard to believe.* In major wind events such as that you will see winds speeds approach that almost every time.* If I remember correctly the Derecho to hit St. Louis last year was about the same thing.* That night though, there wouldnt have been a PDS for just SVR as there was a TOR threat as well.

it isnt unheard of to have thunderstorms (namely squall lines) hit wind speed of 110 or even 120 mph, although this is on a special occasion.

There have been several events with the PDS Thunderstorm watches, mainly for the long-lived derecho or significant events such as that.* They aren't common, but it is nothing unheard of either.
