When doing long-term or travel storm chasing, do you stay in a Hotel or camp/stay in vehicle?

Hotel for me. Usually storm chasing involves driving for 10-12 hours per day, and the last thing I need at the end of one of those is not sleeping well because it was lumpy/loud/full of ants.

lol is right.

The last thing you'd need is to try to sleep outside during a nocturnal thunderstorm.

They certainly can. Of course, storm chasing in general is an expensive proposition--between gas, food, and staying the night somewhere, it usually costs me about $100 per day.

Yes. All I do currently is local chasing (within the southern IL area). We don't get much though. I'd like to go out west and chase though.

Usually stay in a hotel. Can get a better night sleep that way and its more relaxing. But...if I would have to pick between a hotel or another day of chasing, I would sleep in a car for one night
