Which scale of the Fujita do you like better, F or EF and why?

F, because it has always worked well and I really didn't see a good reason to change it. I think changing something like that just confuses people.

Ah, another fine example of how political correctness is ruining this country.

This is just another example of people taking a perfectly good system...one people understand...and tinkering with it until they F it up. Or is it EF it up? I'm never really sure.

EF, because it takes more into consideration structual damage, at least that is how I understand it.

I believe there was already a lengthy discussion on this subject. Both the F and the EF scale are based on the same thing, damage to buildings, etc. to rate tornadoes. The new scale simply took the new testing that we are able to do to allow for more consistent and better ratings of the damage. It also allowed us to realize that it doesn't take as high as winds as previously thought to cause some damage, so the wind speeds relative to the damage were changed...

While I do think the EF scale is better in terms of estimating wind speeds, I wish they could have revamped the Fujita Scale wthout having to add the "enhanced" part and confusing the public.
