| | | Can you chase with out a NOWCASTER? | | I was thinking if you had two people with you and a laptop, you could prob chase with out a now caster, with grlevel3. Am I correct in that assumption? |

| | Re: Can you chase with out a NOWCASTER? | | yes, most of the time. sometimes though, when you're out of range on your laptop its still nice to have someone call you and let you know about new MD's, watches, warnings, outlooks, etc. but yea, its definately possible and quite a few people like not having a laptop, radar, nowcaster.

| | Re: Can you chase with out a NOWCASTER? | | It is quite possible.* Although I wouldn't go quite as far to say you could do it by yourself just with GR3.* But if you have internet access, you would already have access to all the other data you needed (ie SPC mesoanalysis, satellite, etc.)* I sometimes have my wife brief me on things if I am out of data range,* but Alltel greatly expanded their data coverage this year,* and I don't think I will have much of a problem with that...I haven't so far anyway.

| | Re: Can you chase with out a NOWCASTER? | | Always have a nowcaster, as you never know when you could be in a spot with no internet or what is something happens to your 'technology'??* You need a nowcaster at least as a backup, especially if you are new to chasing.* You have no idea how frustrating it is if you are out somewhere and you can't get any data and you don't have anyone to call to help you out.
You're basically screwed without one, it at least can't hurt ya to have one no matter what.

| | Re: Can you chase with out a NOWCASTER? | | I agree with Jayson on this.* It is always nice to have someone around that can nowcast for you just in case something happens to the techno-stuff.* I have showed my wife just about everything that I use, and I can rely on her when I get out of range for data (although that doesn't really happen much).* But it is nice to have someone else that knows* what is going on so if there is a failure of some sort, there is always a backup.
