Miss Bobbie, how is your home's location? Do you feel safe there?

GAAG, yes, we're safe here. We're about 15 miles inland. Our house is quite sturdy and we've been through 8 hurricanes in the past 13 years. And if it makes landfall at Myrtle Beach, that would just be a little bit worse than a direct hit.

I really want this storm. I'm the sole support of the household -- sewing canvas awnings. My hours have been drastically cut due to lack of work. I haven't had a 40-hour paycheck since July. (Next paycheck will be for only 7 hours. ) If a bunch of canvas items out there would just get ripped to shreds and need repair/replacement, I'd be a happy worker bee!

Well I hope this is the mother of all canvas ripping storms then!

Good luck and stay safe.

Miss Bobbie, I'm glad you feel safe & pray that you are. Please evacuate if the authorities suggest it. Keep in touch here as possible.

BTW, have I told you hubby & I love the Wilmington area? We have been visiting the coastal Carolinas our whole lives. He was born not far from there.

I'm worried about the tall trees in my yard. I'm all about some rain, but not wind. Hopefully Hanna will hush.

Thanks, GAAG -- yes, I'll keep in touch. I don't think there are any other posters here in my area, so I'll have to manage the play-by-play by myself. We've finished final preps -- removing eveything from our deck and Mom's. Thankfully, she's out of town right now. If evacuation is necessary, we go to my brother in Asheville.

I truly hope and pray that this is an ordinary hurricane with no surprises.

You're welcome to come to our place after the storm and help with the clean-up! See Wilmington in a different light!
