| | I saw this coming, but wow.....
Both storms were originally predicted to move west at constant speed. But now... This must be a forecasting NIGHTMARE!

| | Just an update, today, 11/25/2007 Sunday ACT (ASEAN Common Time) (ie UTC+0800), the PAGASA declared Tropical Depression as "Nonoy", and is expected to merge with "Lando" (Hagibis) over at Philippine Sea and move northward. Lando is expected to re-enter via Palawan and either move North-Eastward (and hit Manila) or Eastward (hit Bicol and Eastern Visayas).
However, PAGASA also mentioned that Mina (Mitag[?]) might also change direction. Although no reason was given, regular people like me sees it as due to the already started Fujiwara Effect and the addition of (1) Tropical Depression Nonoy; and (2) if Lando and Nonoy merges.
Anyway, that's all from an ordinary citizen living in Metro Manila... *scary*. |

| | Welcome, LL. Hope you enjoy the board.
Good luck dodging those storms! Maybe they'll all get tangled up and choke each other before they do a lot of harm to anybody. (I'm AM the WeatherDummy, so don't expect technical comments from me. LOL) Just wishing you all well out there, and even if its not in technical language or likely to happen, the sentiments are the same....hope they all "go fish".

| | For a truly insane Fujiwhara effect, go to the JTWC site and check out the 1972 ATCR in the archives. Note especially the track and narrative of Supertyphoon Rita which was in an interaction with up to 4 other storms at one time. Besides being the longest lived named storm in WPAC, Rita brought devastating floods to the Philippines, Taiwan, China, Okinawa, Japan and Korea.

| | Thanks for the warm welcome :D
Found this community while doing some reading about the Fujiwara Effect. I'm familiar with the effect but I only learned what it's called yesterday, after PAGASA explained why Lando (Hagibis) made a u-turn. I've seen the effect when I was young, scary.. especially if they merge near you @_@ If I remember correctly, that's when the Philippine Storm Signal #4 was born.
Anyway, I'll check that craziest fujiwara effect once I get back home (still at the office)... now that I see the bigger picture thanks to the charts and satellite pictures.. Earth is violent!! hehe... but still thank God, not as violent as Jupiter :P
Thanks again :D |

| | Not the fujiwara effect anymore. It seems all 4 storms (Mitag, Hagabis, Depression, Invest) are going to merge because of an incoming front.
