Default Drought Over?


West’s snowy winter will help....Lots of frozen water up in mountains — thanks to jet stream 'on steroids'
Across the West this spring, the picture is similar, with abundant mountain snow in most areas promising runoff that will provide a break from the drought that has sporadically parched the region since late 1999.
The Colorado mountains are poised to unleash more runoff than they have in 11 years. Streams in Washington and Oregon are forecast to carry up to 50 percent more water than usual. Lake Powell, stretching more than 100 miles across Utah and Arizona, is expected to rise 50 feet from its current depleted state. read more

See that... you dont even need rain where you are to end a drought. Weather is an amazing force.

amazing indeed.....

what part of NY are you @ wxman?

and the drought in the SE is is getting better....but far from over....especially if you take in consideration of the short falls over the last 3-5 yrs....but the pattern so far is very beneficial for the SE'ers it may riun outdoor wknd plans but i bet not too m any are complaining still....

New York City..
For last several weeks those rain fall are beneficial for South and SE'erns somehow it help out to ease the most extreme droughts areas..but yes its to far from over just what this temperature forecast shows..
