Thumbs down

There has been some problems on this forum that is of concern that I would like to mention:

You can state your opinion while following posting guidelines but do not post anything that has been answered or is not closely related to the thread being posted on. Also try to make your comments to a post to just one post and not multiples. You can quote more than one person in a single post. Also there will be no bashing or insulting of other members. Also, some topics can get heated at times due to controversy over a topic. KEEP IT CLEAN. Don't try to make other members look dumb if they are asking simple questions about a topic trying to learn. Also, try to keep down the "cocky" attitudes, especially if your right about something when someone else was giving a good try at it. If you have any questions or need to report someone to administation, feel free to message either an administrator or a moderator. Thanks.

Very good post, Charles. I will say having worked in an operational forecasting setting thing do get heated and snippy. One time I even had an argument with someone as to whether or not we had been arguing earlier. Its a field that kind of lends itself to it. There are different models, different interpretations, etc. And as a forecaster, one has to have a degree of arrogance to be able to take a stand and defend it. If we don't believe our forecast is right, why bother making it. And naturally we want to prove our idea to everyone. I found that no matter how heated things got or how snippy; in this field it was not to be taken personally. Even those I would battle with I had the utmost respect for and vice-versa. I certainly try not to bash any other met or anyone for that matter. I may do so with certain people with the initials H.M. in the winter...but I think we can all agree that's with just cause :P

All I'm saying is, its good to keep things civil but if things do get a little heated, don't take it to heart and welcome to the wonderful world of operational forecasting

Also, lets keep language as clean as possible. I've had to change a few posts here and there. Also, any sexual expressions will be changed at our discretion. Thank you...and enjoy our forums.

Ok everyone. I have been out for a few days because of school and work, but i have been getting reports of people not following forum rules and making insults. There will be NO tolleration of this ANYMORE. I hate to start getting really strict on here but until we all grow up and talk as mature amature forecasters on this board we will start being strict. Your warning level will be raised and you will get a message stating so if you are caught making insults are trying to start trouble on here. Lets just try to have a decent talk about the weather and keep it clean and most of all, have fun. That is all i'm asking so please keep it clean. Thanks.

Yea, most of those issues were taken care of but I agree, this is a place to have fun and enjoy the weather. It's of course allright to disagree and have a debate but try to keep it civil.

Thanks and enjoy the weather vane.
