I've been visiting with family past several days (and thru tomorrow), but still communicating with all our clients via email on the potentially-active Tropical weather systems.
Here's an interesting sentence from this afternoon's Tropical Discussion:
TROPICAL WEATHER DISCUSSION
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
205 PM EDT FRI OCT 05 2007
A WEAK 1011 MB LOW IS ALSO
ANALYZED JUST N OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS NEAR 19N65W AS DICTATED BY
THE SAN JUAN RADAR AND THE SURROUNDING SFC OBSERVATIONS. THERE
IS SOME DEBATE ON IF SOME OF THIS ENERGY COULD BE ASSOCIATED
WITH THE EX-TROPICAL CYCLONE KAREN.
There is discussion 93L is partly Karen's remnants. I have been referring to this as Karen's remnants in my forecasts...but it's also clear this energy merged with the broad TROF. If this were to develop, I think my preference would be to give the system a new name, since I'm not sure there was continuity of a vorticity, and I don't believe most of the energy for 93L was supplied by Karen. However, I would not strongly object to calling this Karen again, as there has certainly been some sort of continuity, which I have mentioned each day in my forecasts.
I'd probably give this a 1-in-4 chance of developing, and, if it develops, there's a decent chance it'll pass not far from Bermuda sometime after Wed10. I've advised vessels intending to transit the area that this potential system remains a risk, eventhough Tropical models no longer indicate such. |
