The Quadrantid Meteor shower will peak at 1:40 AM EST and will provide a show for Eastern US observers. The Quads are bluish in color and then to flare when they burn out. The fainter ones tend to appear as blue flashes in the sky. The shower is considered to be second only to the Geminids in intensity but is much more difficult to observe because it is sharply peaked and short duration. The radiant will be low in the NE sky.
