UK anomalies:

December 2007: + 0.5 °C
January 2008: + 2.3 °C
February 2008: + 1.9 °C

Interesting. So even though it started cold and they predicted historically cold January, it turned out to be above normal? Do you know what factors brought the average up to above normal after starting so cold for January?

You have to watch the source of the data. Land based observation stations tend to be unreliable as the data is often contaminated. Contamination comes from poor placement of the observation stations and the proximity to heat islands. Satellite is the only real reliable source of data as it gives 100% coverage of an area. Bad station placement is a non factor and the heat island effect is diminished because of the complete coverage.
