I was excited because someone just sent me the following email:



It sure sounds good, right? I was going to post this exciting event here but decided to search for more info first. I'm sure glad I checked, because it turned out to be a hoax, so if you receive an email about it, just ignore it - or tell the sender it is a hoax and send them this link to snopes:

Ignore the E-mail totally. I recall this 'hoax' doing the rounds about 3 or 4 years ago.

You could equate it to the Mars alien invasion hoax by H.G Wells many a year ago although there was no such thing as E-mail back then. It seems like that at any Earth/Mars opposition when both planets are at a close proximity, (millions of miles!) there are the scaremongerers out there. It's more likely that the Moon or a stray asteroid would smack into Earth before any inner or outer planet ever would.
