Default More Heat East, Storms in MidWest & New England 0609

Storms and Flooding will continue to be the headline in the Midwest this morning as slow moving soaking thunderstorms roll across Missouri, Oklahoma and Illinois. Some areas in the Midwest picked up over 4" of rain last night with Oklahoma showing 3-4" in the central and western part of the state.

The focus for severe weather today will be along a cold front from Michigan to Oklahoma. The risk for severe weather is SLIGHT but with this type of pattern you can still get isolated tornadoes. The other area is Northern New England and Upstate New York as a frontal boundary collides hot humid air to the south and cooler, drier air from Canada up North. This front will be the HEAT BUSTER and end the East Coast heatwave by Wednesday.

The report from the Storms Prediction Center shows 10 more reports of tornadoes and a total of 398 reports of wind/hail and tornadoes. This has been a running trend now for over two weeks in the US. Expect more severe weather today but about 100-200 miles further east.
